The sky was the limit for Struie Infinity at Thainstone
The sky was the limit for the Champion at the final Dutch Spotted Society sale of the Autumn season, when Struie Infinity, the 1st prize shearling ewe, consigned by Jonathan Marshall sold for 1800gns to AJ Pirie, Keith. The Ty-Gwyn Hercules daughter was full of homebred breeding on the dam side, and was the outstanding sheep of the day for judge, Eilidh Hortin who had travelled North from Cumbria.
Outwith the Champion, a solid trade for rams ensued with a trio of shearling rams selling for 800gns; the 2nd placed shearling ram from E Eunson, Halley I’m The Man, sired by Tiptop High Flyer, sold to DJ Scott, Banffshire; the Glencloy Gunner son Tardoes Lleach Lord from M & J Simpson went to RJ McIntosh & Son, Huntly, and finally, C & I Mallarkey’s Airdlin Imperial, son of the homebred Airdlin Hot Stuff, headed home with RJ Milne, Inverurie.
Ram lambs achieved similar heights, with Airdin JT from Aberdeenshire breeders C & I Mallarkey selling for 800gns to SJ Cooper, Peterhead, this lamb, sired by Irthing Valley I Am Fine was placed 2nd in the pre-sale show. Regular supporter of the sale, Mrs LE Troup then sold her ram lamb, Laurelle James Bond, shown through the summer and placed 6th at the Royal Highland Show, for 750gns to W & C Wilson, Alness.
The final leading light of the day went to M Simpson with his shearling ewe, Tardoes Lowa Favor, this was the natural twin sister to Tardoes Ironic Fairfax their Champion from Kinross Show, she sold for 700gns to H & N McEwan, Angus.
