Aberhonddu Jungle George swings to the top at Welshpool
Leading the way at the Dutch Spotted Sheep Society sale, Welshpool, was ram lamb Aberhonddu Jungle George from Darren Witcomb, Brecon.
Sired by Merryboro Iron Man and out of a dam by Carlaustan Extrovert, he was bought by J Turner, Wellington, Somerset, at 3700gns.
Then making 3000gns was Dustland Jagerbomb from C Harding, Cheshire. Sired by an imported ram and out of a dam by another imported sire, this ram lamb was the pick of J Dixon, Kendal.
Taking a 2800gns call was Red Wharf Bay Lori from D W Williams. This shearling tup is by Milltown Fury and out of a dam by Haughmond Enchanted Earl and was taken by R Spencer and Son, Rotherham.Shearling ram Dustland Iroko from the same home of C Harding followed that at 1700gns having been Reserve Male Champion in the pre-sale show. He’s again by an imported sire and out of a homebred dam by an imported tup and sold to Messrs Morgan and Jones, Llanrhystud.
Close behind at 1600gns was another ram lamb from Darren Witcomb, Aberhonddu Jigsaw. He’s by Milltown Hank the Tank and out of a Merryboro Donald daughter and was bought by R Roberts, Betws Yn Rhos.
Another from D W Williams, Red Wharf Bay Islwyn then made 1500gns, with this shearling ram being another by Milltown Fury and out of a different Haughmond Enchanted daughter. He was knocked down to A & T Evans, Brecon.
At the same money was Blackjack Joggin John from Jack Whiteford. He’s by Milltown Ivor Williams and out of a Hazelbury Gee Wizz-sired dam. Buying this one was R W Phillips, Trawsmawr.
Females
Topping female trade at 3200gns was a gimmer from Sara Gibbons’ Whatmore flock. This was Whatmore Indiana, a daughter of the homebred Whatmore Forty Winx and out of a dam by Whatmore Earshot. She sold to G Williams, Corwen.
Following that came no fewer than five at 1400gns. First at this money was Blackjack Indiana Jones from Jack Whiteford. Sired by Cannon Hall Hellbound and out of a dam by Hazelberry Gee Wizz, she sold to D I Parry, Abergavenny.
Second at this price was Dustland Inspired from C Harding. She’s by an imported sire and out of a dam by another imported sire and sold to E and S Evans, Ceredigion.
Then came Glan-Y-Mor Icemaiden from the Jones family, Gwynedd. She’s a Wedderburn Finley daughter out of a dam by Drumard Everest and sold to R Spencer and Son, Rotherham.
Fourth at this level was another from the same pen, Glan-Y-Mor Indianna, with this being a Irthing Valley Goliath daughter out of a dam by Glencloy Chance. She was the pick of R Foster, Honiton.
And the final 1400gns sale was for ewe lamb Demon Jess from Steven and Laura Isaac. This one is by Lochlad Hitman and out of a dam by Merryboro Fastandfurious and was taken by M J and L J Robertson, Horton, Bristol.
