Exeter Sale
14 August 2026
A level trade and good clearance saw the annual sale of Dutch Spotted Sheep overcome difficult trading conditions imposed by Bluetongue in the South West. Joint top price and Supreme Champion in the pre-sale show came from the female section, with Laura Monk’s Saveock flock taking the tickets, under the eye of noted breeder, Huw Williams of the Carmarthenshire based, Banc flock.
Substitute lot, Saveock Jilly, placed 1st in the ewe lamb class, then went on to take Female and Supreme honours, and sold for 1500gns to Mary-Julia Cornish to join her Mardle flock from nearby Buckfastleigh in Devon. The Windrush Goliath sired lamb was out of the homebred ewe, Saveock Fern which goes back to the prolific sire, Lochlad Dictator.
Joint top price of 1500gns went to Georgia Lyons for her 1st Shearling Ram and Male Champion, Moortown Incredible Hulk, a Waterside Handy Man son, and out of Tamar Valley Grace. This ram was placed 1st earlier in the season at the Royal Cornwall Show and headed home with Charmain Plummer to the Westwood Flock.
The Westwood flock was also in the money, when they sold Aberhonddu Izzy bred by D Witcomb and C Morgan, for 1400gns to Georgia Lyons, Moortown flock based at Holsworthy, Devon. This 3rd prize shearling ewe was sired by Merryboro Hanky Panky and out of Diamond Finnley.
Matching the money, the 1st prize shearling ewe from Gregg Haste, Shebb Imogen, also sold for 1400gns. Sired by Ty-Gwyn Express and out of the homebred Shebb Edna, she also headed home with Charmain Plummer to join the Westwood flock. The final 4-figure sheep also came from the Shebb pen, when they sold the 2nd prize shearling ram, Shebb Ironic for 1000gns; the Tiptop Echo sired ram, was half brother to the Champion from the 2025 Exeter sale and joins Sophie Rowdon’s Lower Norton Flock.
