Ewe Lamb Leads the Way At Welshpool

The Welshpool May Sale may have been small, but it proved mighty, with five sheep exceeding 1000gns.

Although there was no show at this fixture, one ewe lamb more than made up for it, stealing the spotlight as she entered the ring. A powerful sheep by the well-known Dutch Dominator, Merryboro Just Add Magic from T & L Nash sold to repeat customer L J Pritchard for 2400gns.

The second-highest price of the day also went to L J Pritchard and once again from breeders T & L Nash. Merryboro Just Imagine, the first Dutch Gambler ewe lamb to be offered this year, impressed as a real carcass sheep and sold for 1800gns.

A ram lamb from Cannon Hall Farm Ltd then took centre stage. Cannon Hall Justifiably Handsome lived up to his name, selling for 1250gns to A W Jones.

Completing the higher-end trade were two ewe lambs from C Harding. Dustland Jitterbug and Dustland Juice, both strong-bodied sheep, each sold for 1100gns to BD & SL Owen and L J Pritchard respectively.

Overall, the sale attracted strong buyer interest and demonstrated continued demand for the breed.
