Thursday 18th September
This is the third year that this sale has been held at Lawrie and Symington in Lanark.
Shawtonhill Harmony, a strong bodied Shearling Ewe bred by R & J Hamilton, was a standout as soon as she entered the ring. Having been served already by Shawtonhill Hank, who earlier in the day sold for 800gns, she was the star of the day, topping the trade at 1200gns to G Hughes.
Second in line for top price was another Shearling Ewe from R & J Hamilton. Shawtonhill Heidi, who is a daughter of Sunnybank Golden Balls and out of a homebred ewe, who went on to fetch 900gns and also found a new home with G Hughes.
Topping the ram trade for the day was another from R & J Hamilton, this time it was the pre-mentioned Shearling Ram, Shawtonhill Hank, a son of Irthing Valley Ethan and out of Lochlad Fascinate, he was bought by local breeders W & G Coulter.
