South West Regional Group recently hosted a highly informative trimming and ring craft workshop at Sedgemoor Auction Centre, attracting a strong turnout from members across the region. The event featured renowned professional trimmer and experienced showman Chrissy Davies, who provided an in-depth, step-by-step demonstration on preparing a sheep for the show ring. Attendees assembled around the sale ring to observe Chrissy’s meticulous trimming techniques, gaining valuable insights into best practices for presentation, trimming techniques and ring etiquette. The interactive nature of the session allowed members to ask questions throughout, fostering a collaborative and educational day. The workshop formed part of the Group’s ongoing commitment to supporting skill development and promoting excellence within the regional showing community.
Whilst lunch and refreshments were provided, this allowed members to discuss their learnings and enjoy some spottie chat following a busy lambing season so far!
Trustee and breeder, Charmain Plummer commented "Credit to Chrissy for a great trimming demo and ring craft day, they say every day is a school day and it’s so true, no matter whether you were new to the showing scene or had plenty of experience, everyone went away having learnt something".
We look forward to seeing many more events of this nature being held within the South West Region and would encourage other regions to host simualr days.
